Our new Advisory Council: Expressions of Interest now open15 June 2016
We are seeking Expressions of Interest for our new Advisory Council.
Through our extensive consultation process before opening and in our engagement work since, we heard a clear and consistent message about what our stakeholders wanted of the MHCC.
They wanted us to listen to the voice of people with lived experience, and to work in partnership with consumers, carers and services.
In response to this feedback, Commissioner Lynne Coulson Barr said the MHCC Advisory Council will be an inclusive and diverse group of people with lived experience of mental health services.
‘Our Council members will provide us with voices of consumers, carers and service workers who we don’t normally hear from, and who have a genuine commitment to effecting positive change,’ Commissioner Coulson Barr said.
Members will share their knowledge and expertise, and provide advice across a range of areas, including the needs and priorities of people with lived experience in relation to overcoming barriers and implementing effective complaint processes.
‘Their contributions will enhance our education and engagement initiatives, including the training and resources that we provide on resolving complaints in ways that support people’s recovery,’ Commissioner Coulson Barr said.
Council members will strengthen our engagement of key groups through the messages that we put forward in our information materials, via our website and across social media.
‘We are keen to gain their input into our strategic plans, and their guidance on how best to evaluate the impact of our work,’ Commissioner Coulson Barr said.
Council members will also provide their perspectives on emerging issues and developments in the sector that relate to our work, such as project outcomes and research findings.

Expressions of interest close Monday 4 July, 2016.
