Our role in supporting Victoria’s transition to the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments have reached a decision regarding the quality and safeguard measures that will be implemented during the transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

As part of these measures, NDIS funded services that provide psychosocial supports in Victoria will be required to report to the MHCC on the complaints they receive, and the outcomes of these complaints.

Alongside this work, we will continue to respond to complaints made to our office about these services.

Both the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments acknowledge that these quality and safeguard measures are an important part of supporting the phasing of Victorians to the NDIS, and ensuring Victorians are confident that NDIS registered providers are capable of delivering services that are safe and of a high quality.

These arrangements will be in place from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2019, subject to Ministers' decisions.

We look forward to working with the NDIA and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services regarding the NDIS roll out and raising awareness of the work that we do among consumers, carers and services.
